Removing The Background From An Image Using The Magic Wand Tool

Posted by Kenji on 23 December 2010 1 Comment

There are several methods to remove the background from images. One of the quickest and most basic methods, also what I call a shortcut method, is the magic wand. However, the magic wand doesn’t always work well, especially when it comes to images that relatively blend with the background, or light images that sit on an equally light background. However, if you want a quick solution that should work under 3 minutes, then this is it!

Step 1 : First select the magic wand tool

Step 2 : Set the tolerance level. This will determine how much of the area around the section you want is selected.

Step 3 : Use the magic wand on the areas you want removed

Step 4 : Press the delete button

Step 5 : Next, select the Magic eraser tool, and click once on the white area. That’s it.
