Mac App Store

Apple launched Mac App Store yesterday with more than 1000 free and paid apps available for download. According to report released by Apple, 1 million downloads (both free and paid apps) have been registered on its launched day. Future seems to be VERY bright for Apple’s latest product as predicted by many.

To check out the App Store yourself, download the latest Mac OS X update through Software Update (please refer to the image on the left). Once you have updated your OS, you will notice a new App Store icon on your Dock.

Mac App Store works just like iTunes App Store so using the application is fairly easy. Browse the store and click on the price or “Free” to download paid apps and free apps respectively. Login to your iTunes account is required to complete the download. All apps downloaded from App Store include free lifetime updates.

A quick look at the App Store shows that Angry Bird (yes, it is now available for Mac) is the top paid app while Twitter hold the top spot in free app category.
