iPhone 4, which was unveiled on 7th June, set to hit the stores on 24th June.

iPhone have been around from 2007 and they are the last word in smart phones. Designed and marketed by Apple Inc., iPhone has multiple functionalities. Other than the basic use as a telephone, iPhone can be used for text messaging, as a camera and a portable media player. Web browsing on the iPhone, clear displays and a long batter life are some of its major advantages. So be it in office, at home or on the move iPhone can be your most trusted companion.

iPhone 4, which was unveiled on 7th June, set to hit the stores on 24th June. It is not only an improvement over iPhone 3Gs but it is one of the most technologically advanced mobile phones available. Its features include a retina display which makes it the highest resolution phone available. It has a pixel density of 326 pixels per inch and each pixel is about 78 micrometers across. The pixels are so small that human eye cannot distinguish between them, making the display an astounding visual treat. The phone also gets rid of the problem of LCD visibility from different angles with IPS technology colour and contrast which makes visibility consistent from almost any viewing angle.

The phone has an exterior made with engineered glass. Almost as strong as helicopter windshields, this type of glass is 20 times stiffer and 30 times harder than plastic. It is also scratch resistant thus making it almost unbreakable and thus making your worries of dropping your phone seem like problems of the past. iPhone 4 is ultra durable and will be with you for a long time. The new model also has a stainless steel band running around the body of the phone. It gives structure and rigidity to the phone supporting its thin design. The band also acts as a part of the antenna for 3G and Wi-Fi.

The A4 processor chip of the phone is highly powerful for supporting multitasking activities but also very power efficient. The power efficiency is achieved by smart use of the battery power. The subcomponents of the A4 processor chip can be switched off when not in use, thus conserving power.

The iPhone 4 camera captures the most life like, 5 mega pixel images and high definition videos. Be it moments from your child’s birthday party or a picturesque sunset that you want to capture, the iPhone 4 camera comes to your rescue every time. It uses an advanced technology of backside illumination sensor which helps in capturing images even in low-light settings. While clicking still pictures, it is used as a flash and during shooting videos it stays on to provide enough light to capture the images. The phone also provides a camera on the front. Thus you can capture two images simultaneously. You can capture the event occurring in front of you and also record your own reactions to it.

One of the biggest features of the iPhone 4 is video calling. Thanks to the front camera, you can video chat over Wi-Fi connection. Making your conversations more personalized, this face to face chat gives a whole new meaning to connectivity. You can not only talk to but also see your loved one no matter where you are. Apple calls this Facetime and it is surely going to be one of the most sought after features in all future phones. This feature could also be used for video conferencing for new age professionals who are always on the move. iPhone makes doing business and keeping in touch with family that much simpler.

iPhone 4 can also function as your I-pod where you can watch luminous full screen videos on the multi touch screen. It has a new gyroscope built in that can track movement with very high precision. Other feature of the iPhone 4 include a micro sim, a 300 hours standby battery life, the most advanced web browser, two microphone for a better interface during video conferencing, a smart keyboard and a unique slim design that makes it easy to carry. The functions of the phone can also be personalized with voice control where your phone responds to your voice commands. iPhone 4 definitely is a multi utility package, an answer to your every need.

For those of you who owned an iPad Wifi version and regretted that you did not get the 3G version, here are 2 solutions for you.

1. Verizon Mobile Wifi (USA) / Digi Mobile Wifi (Malaysia)

Both Verizon and Digi will be selling a device that allow your iPad to connect to a 3G connection. It will cost you around US $150 for the device and a data plan with the mobile operator. You can also connnect your laptop, netbook and iPod to it at the same time. Cool stuff.

2. Jailbroken iPhone (OS 3.1+) with MyWi app

Although Steve Jobs confirmed that iPad won’t support iPhone tethering, actually, it is always possible to turn your iPhone into a WiFi hotspot. Simply jailbreak your iPhone, make sure it is running on firmware 3.1.2 and above, install MyWi app through Cydia (only US $9.99) on your iPhone and that’s it!

Here are some steps in ensuring your Wordpress security.

Although there have been a lot of blogging software that has been introduced over the last decade, WordPress remains to be the leading blogging software for both amateur and pro-bloggers all over the globe. However, in spite of all the raves about how great WordPress is, it does have a weak spot and that would be its security. WordPress does make sure that they are able to address any security issues through releasing patches after major release just like what Microsoft Windows does, but because of all the risks of hacking, data-thefts and cracking online, it would be advisable to take some steps in ensuring your security. Here are some of them.

First off, it would be advisable to back up. Back up the files on your server and back up your database. There is no such thing as backing up too much, especially when it would serve as a way to protect the hard work that you have put in on your WordPress blog or site.

ANY_CHARACTER_HERE

Make sure that your WordPress installation is always up to date. This would be a good way to avoid issues.

ANY_CHARACTER_HERE

Since hackers know that WordPress has a user “admin” which has god-like administration privileges, it would be advisable to remove the “admin” user. You could just a WordPress user who has admin privileges through the administration interface. You could then log out of WordPress and then log back in as the new user and delete the admin user. Make sure that the new admin user is different than the normal blog post author.

ANY_CHARACTER_HERE

Regularly change your password and make it as complex as possible with more than 10 characters. Do not use actual words for your password; instead, make it a combination of letters, numbers and symbols.

ANY_CHARACTER_HERE

Avoid having a directory listing. In most WordPress installations, a list of installed plugins can be viewed by going to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory. This would not be a good idea since known plugin vulnerabilities could be easily exploited. You can just add a blank default index file like index.html to the directory.

ANY_CHARACTER_HERE

Do not advertise your WordPress version. By default, WordPress usually publishes its current version number on the header of your blog. This already gives out a valuable piece of information to a hacker which he could use against you.

Aside from this WordPress security tips, you can also search online for more resources that you could get information from. There are many websites that offer valuable tips, guides and tutorials on how to make your WordPress blog or website a lot more secure.

Squidoo is a community based website which allows the users to create pages which are called lenses for subjects of interest.

Founded in 2006 by author Seth Godin, Squidoo is a community based website which allows the users to create pages which are called lenses for subjects of interest. Squidoo.com is one of the fastest growing websites on the internet which grew at a rate of around 91% in the year 2008 and had around 900,000 lenses by the month of February 2009.

The Squidoo lenses are much like blogs but the difference lies in the fact that these pages are dedicated to only one subject matter. It also let the users earn a income by referral links to sites like Amazon, eBay and such. Furthermore what is more notable is that Squidoo allows its users to get free online traffic. It does not matter if you have a silly website name… as long as there is a potential to drive large amount of traffic to your website, who mind joining Squidoo?

The people who make lenses on Squidoo are called “lens masters”. These lens masters don’t necessarily have to be experts. In fact this website allows the users to make the lenses without much knowledge about HTML. These lenses often get an inherent increase in popularity as they get linked with other lenses on this website. Squidoo has a large number of lenses related to various subject matters like health care, medicine, cooking, business, and even pets and also about philosophy.

Squidoo has a lot of benefits which it provides its users. Google really puts high preference on Squidoo lenses and they are included and in fact rise to the top of Google searches really fast, actually at times it takes less than 48 hours for them to do so. This is something which even websites cannot manage even after a number of months or even more. Squidoo and article marketing go hand in hand and this is an important plus for this website.

It’s free, it allows the users to earn money and also more importantly it seriously helps the lens masters to increase their online traffic without much hassle. Further more it is pretty good to note that Squidoo donates around 5% of its total revenues for charity.

Now that we know a lot about Squidoo, let us see how to get started on this website. This is really easy to do as there is a template which we can use. The most important and arguably the most difficult part of getting started is finalizing what topic to select for our lens. Once our lens is made, the lens master has to write down his content. Following that, a judiciously selected title allows the lens to be high up on the Google lists.

What more do we want when we have a website which allows us to have post our opinions, earn a little cash and at the same time contribute to the society. It is thus safe to say that Squidoo has a bright future. Sign up now!

Google in association with Android OS system plans to provide television content to the viewer either by set top box or directly to TV sets provided that the software is integrated.

Google is set to invade the TV world with its new project called the Google TV. Google in association with Android OS system plans to provide television content to the viewer either by set top box or directly to TV sets provided that the software is integrated. Hence it is not long that our own DVD player and the LCD screen at our homes will serve as a web interface. Manufacturing companies nowadays are entering into the web based programming world by enabling them to plug into the internet. Hence Google wants to cash in on this booming sector by teaming up with these corporations to provide the platform for this kind of a set up through the Android platform. Although Google had attempted to enter this market, with products like Nexus One, Google Wave etc etc however it wasn’t a runaway success.

According to reports Google TV is to be used on an Android based Television software called Dragon Point. Also Google is hoping for collaborations with companies like Sony, Logitech and Intel which will allow the TV sets to directly access the content from the internet very easily.

Hence with the use of this new program the users can not only provide a completely new interface for the Television but most importantly it allows us to get all the latest audio and video content from the internet from certain online facilities.

This could allow certain web applications like online gaming and social networking along with widgets to be easily executed on these devices.

Intel is also working on scaled down versions of its processor Atom to work with the internet and integrate TV guides. This venture has certainly launched a new competition for the web programming industry.

Further more Google are reportedly trying to manufacture their line of set top boxes which will carry the application built in with it. Therefore with this, Google can convert our HDTV to an internet service interface providing all kinds of web search facilities and video of the highest quality.

Not will this new product allow Google to send their online ads to a huge number of people. For the consumer, this web based television allows them to choose more flexible payment options as compared to the usual satellite television bundles which makes them pay for all thee channels whether they want to or not.

What is good about this new venture is that the web television market still remains largely unexplored and if this one works, then Google is set to make a huge profit. Although many consumers are still unaware of this kind of latest technology and this is still a very niche market. Similarly this technology also has its own glitches. However Google has always been the innovator and if this web to TV based technology works out in their favor, this can totally change the face of the television as we know it. However it is true that what is needed to boost the user response in favor of this new technology is some kind of incentive or cost savings associated with the web to TV integration.

Firefox have announced that they are finally coming out with their new browser for the Android platform for use on cellular phones.

Firefox through their developer Vladimir Vukicevic have announced that they are finally coming out with their new browser for the Android platform for use on cellular phones. Firefox have decided to release a pre alpha version of Fennec made to run on Android 2.0 and above. Further more according to reports the full Mozilla Firefox may hit the Android and not just the Fennec.

Fennec brings with itself certain new functions in this version with side to side swiping to access the functionality. On it, we have to tug the screen to the right to access the tabs and to the left if we want to access the settings, bookmarks and the toolbar with various options.

Since this Fennec project is a pre alpha edition and hence is still at a nascent stage of development, this software still has a large number of bugs like slow start up speed, slow response and high memory usage which are yet to be resolved.

This version of Fennec has been tested on the HTC Desire and the Motorola Milestone other than the Droid and Nexus One phones. In spite of these tests, the Fennec producers have actually confirmed that this browser still has a lot of shortcomings and is still not ready for everyday use but is open to users who are interested in using the pre alpha version and giving feed back for further development of the software.

This browser also cannot be stored on the phone’s SD card and has to be installed in the phone memory as it takes up a huge amount of space and if it is stored in the SD card it will eat a lot of memory causing the phone to crash, where the phone might not respond or a black screen may be shown. In such a case one may just go to their Android settings and select applications-then select Manage Applications and then go to Fennec and then tap on Force stop. In the worst case one can simply uninstall and reinstall the application and they can easily get rid of our profile and saved data.

The interface for this Fennec looks very much like the earlier version which was released for the Maemo platform. Other problems with this software include its inability to open links from other applications. This will however be ironed out in the next version which is to be launched. This pre alpha of Fennec does provide plug ins to certain Mozilla facilities like the Firefox Weave. This is a Mozilla extension which lets the user access tabs from the Firefox on the desktop and also the tabs we open from the mobile browser. This version of Weave which is available with this browser is an experimental version and hence there are teething issues with this. Other plug ins which is available for the browser is the Youtube enabler and the Twitter Bar which allows us to send tweets by typing into the browser’s address bar.

This article aims to provide all the essential information on how to start a blog, turning a blogging newbie into a blogging guru.

Today, blogging is becoming more and more popular among individuals from all walks of life. Blogs primarily serve as web-based journals where people can publish their musings and opinions online but there are many people who also publish blogs to earn money. Blogs can be about anything: food, pets, business, finance, fashion, baby care or any subject wherein an author is an expert in or has interest in. If you are interested in starting your own personal or business blog, then read on. This article aims to provide all the essential information on how to start a blog, turning a blogging newbie into a blogging guru.

First off, you would need to choose whether you would be getting a free blog or a paid blog. A free blog would basically be one that you would get when you sign up with sites such as Blogger or WordPress. You do not have to pay for anything and you could just start blogging away about any topic that you had in mind. However, if you are planning to set up a business or if you are looking to earn from your blog, then it would be more advisable to get a paid blogging solution, as doing so offers a whole range of benefits. Here are some of the advantages and disadvantages of getting a free blog and a paid blog.

An obvious and possibly the only real advantage of getting a free blog with Blogger or WordPress would be that you do not have to pay for anything. You would also have access to some tools that you could use for blogging; however, this could be very limited. A main disadvantage of using a free blogging service would be that you would not have as much freedom to monetize your blog because all the advertisements that you can put on your blog would be controlled by the blog host, which could include the revenue that you should be getting from your ads. Another disadvantage would be that any page rank or the rank of your blog on search engines would be absorbed by your blog network. This could significantly affect the amount of visitors that you would be getting on your blog.

On the other hand, if you would be getting your own hosting solution for your blog, you would be able to have total control over each aspect of your blog, including the ad revenue. Although it would require money and more effort on your part, the advantages of using a paid blogging solution far outweigh the cons. For instance, if your site is able to receive a lot of traffic, the cost of hosting your blog would be covered a lot of times over by the ad revenue which it can potentially generate.

Another advantage of getting a self-hosted blog would be that you could add search value on to your site. Paid blog hosting services would also allow you to be as creative as you want to be since you can add your unique flair to your blog. Also, hosting your own blog is a lot more secure, so if you are setting up a blog for your business, you would be able to provide your clients with total online security. You would also be able to get your own domain name such as petfoodstore.com and not petfoodstore.blogspot.com. Having your own domain would make your blog or website a lot more unique and easier to recall, which could mean customers and visitors. If you feel that you might not have the knowledge and skills to host your own blog, you need not worry as there are a lot of web hosting companies which provide blog web hosting that even beginners can work with. There are even some companies that offer auto installation of a blog software like WordPress.

Once you have chosen between a free or paid blogging service, you can then choose a template. For free blogs, you can just choose from the list of available templates provided. If you are hosting your own blog, you can just download and install a pre-designed template. However, if you want to be more creative or if you want your blog to be more unique, you can edit the template by simple web design.

Once you have your layout and design set up, you can start writing the content of your blog. Here are a couple of tips that you might want to consider as you write your blog posts.

Avoid writing long paragraphs as nobody likes reading long things online. Limit your paragraphs to a couple of lines and then move on to the next. Try to use lists as much as possible like this list of tips.

-

Try to add relevant images to your posts to make them more interesting. However, make sure to keep the size of the images to just enough – not too big or not too small.

-

Do not forget to add tags to all your posts as it would be a good a way to add related keywords to them.

-

Try to post on a regular basis as this would generate more traffic in the long run. It would also be a good way to make your visitors come back for more.

After writing your content, you would then have to promote your blog in order to generate traffic. There are many ways to do this such as social bookmarking, guest blogging and commenting on other relevant blogs.

Starting a blog is actually quite easy once you have the basic knowledge about it. There are also a lot available guides and resources online which could help out beginners and advanced bloggers alike. Once you learn how to start a blog and you put in a lot of effort in it, you would surely be able to succeed whether you have a personal or a business blog.

In the midst of the iPhones and all other tech savvy cell phones that seem to dominate the world at present Nokia has announced the launch of their brainchild, The Nokia N8.

In the midst of the iPhones and all other tech savvy cell phones that seem to dominate the world at present Nokia has announced the launch of their brainchild, The Nokia N8. Armed with a bevy of features, the new Nokia N8 comes with an enviable specifications list. But it’s not only the specifications, Nokia N8 also introduces never seen before features not only on a Nokia phone but it’s the first device in the world to boast of a cell phone having Symbian^3 as its OS.

The Design

For the first time Nokia has used anodized aluminum in its design. This time their metal of choice was a bit more up market. The aluminum will give the phone a rich look while also it’ll reduce its weight, which for a phone as Nokia N8 is bound to be on the higher side. The phone looks sleek and sturdy, with curved sides and top and bottom, which gradually become narrow towards the edges. The top and bottom sides are completely flat and house all sorts of buttons and ports, from the 3.5mm headphone jack to the all-important HDMI-out.

The Display

The Nokia N8 has a 3.5″, 640 x 360 pixel, and capacitive touch screen. The AMOLED display is expected to provide good sunlight legibility, and contrast. Nokia N8 AMOLED feature just navigates smoothly with a single touch. The multitouch feature with pinch zoom is highly a welcoming factor. The display is capable of displaying up to 16.7 million colors and has a proximity sensor for automatically turning off when you bring it close to your face during a call. An ambient light sensor is also available for automatically adjusting the brightness level.

Camera

The strength of the Nokia N8 lies with its camera. The camera flaunts a 12-megapixel autofocus camera, with Xenon flash, which is a rarity in today’s camera phones. Also, a first for Nokia is the ability of the N8 to record HD videos, 1280 x 720 to be precise, at 25 frames per second.

Hardware

The Nokia N8 runs on an ARM 11 680 MHz processor and also has 3D Graphics HW accelerator. With a dedicated graphics accelerator, the N8 will be able to display better quality graphics while gaming or image and video playback. The N8 also comes with 256 MB of RAM, 16GB of built-in memory and a micro SD slot so the memory can be expanded up to 32 GB.

Software and Connectivity

The Nokia N8 runs on Symbian^3, the first phone ever to flaunt this OS. It also provides data connectivity through EDGE, Wi-Fi, Micro USB, speaker phone, and HDMI output. Bluetooth v3.0 serves as a best portal for transferring photos. 3.5mm Audio jack provides exhilarating music experience.

Nokia N8 is a very important product for Nokia. It is at the moment the toughest competitor from the company amongst the hardcore phones such as iPhones and android ones. However it’ll be revealed only after quarter 3 of 2010 that how good is the Nokia N8. At present it is priced 370 Euros. So now the question is, after it is launched, what will you do with it?
