In October 2009, the wait is finally over for PayPal account holders in Malaysia. PayPal has expanded its services in Malaysia with the introduction of support for payments in Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) thus allow members to withdraw their PayPal fund directly to their Malaysia bank account. Those days of withdrawing the fund to debit/credit card and trading the fund at lower exchange rate in local forums are behind us.

How to withdraw?

Step 1 : Log into your Paypal account.

Step 2 : Under My Account, rollover “Profile” and click “Add/Edit Bank Account“. Click the “Add” button on the next page.

Step 3 : Fill in your bank account details and click “Continue“. Review the details of your bank account and make sure that the information is accurate. A return fee of MYR 15 will be deducted from your Paypal fund if your withdrawal request is incomplete or incorrect. Click “Add Bank Account” to register the bank account to your PayPal. A confirmation message will be shown.

Step 4 : To issue a withdrawal request, under My Account, click Withdraw. Fill up the amount you want to withdraw and click “Continue“. Review the details carefully then click on the “Submit” button. Done!

The fund will be in your bank account in 2 – 3 business days. Cool!

Apple’s highly anticipated iPad is set to hit the stores in US on April 3, about a week later than planned. However, only Wi-Fi-only version of iPad will hit the US shelves with Wi-Fi + 3G  to go on sale later in April.

The iPad will be available in UK, Japan, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Australia, Canada and Switzerland in late April, with other markets (yea, Malaysia, Singapore) added later in the year.

For those (US residents only) who are eager to get first-hand experience with iPad, you can pre-order from the Apple Online Store  or reserve for pickup  at Apple Retail store from next Friday (March 12) onwards. The price for the iPad’s Wi-Fi-only version will start at $499 for 16GB of memory, $599 for 32GB, and $699 for 64GB. The Wi-Fi + 3G version will cost $629 for 16GB, $729 for 32GB, and $829 for 64GB.

That’s enough! Since it is now a requirement to write a post on Advertlets before you get paid, I have no choice but to comply with this “special” rule.

If you are getting bored of using “Web-safe” fonts like Arial and Verdana for  headings and at the same time, lazy to render the text in images, then you should consider dynamic text replacement.

In this short tutorial, I will focus on the 2 most widely used methods : Cufón and Typeface.js.

Cufón

Step 1:
Visit Cufón website and click the Download button. You will be prompted to download Cufón’s Javascript file - cufon-yui.js

Step 2:
Convert the font-face you intend to use in your web pages using the Cufón Font Generator Tool. Again, you will be prompted to download a Javascript file containing all the font information required by Cufón’s Javascript.

Step 3:
In your <head> tag, include both the Javascript files and declares the element(s) that will be using the custom font. Your code should look something like this..

That’s all about it. In the above example, <h1>,<h2> and <h3> will be presented in Black Jack font!

Typeface.js

Step 1:
Download Typeface.js library from here.

Step 2:
Just like Cufón, convert and download fonts using the tool provided (See above image)

Step 3:
Here is the final step. To make it easier for you, I have include the whole working HTML below:-

Though both the methods allow you to have beautiful typography on your website, it is advisable not use to it on all of the text on your page. It will slow down your site

DiGi, a mobile service provider in Malaysia, has reached an agreement with Apple Inc yesterday to distribute iPhone in Malaysia. According to DiGi’s website, the iPhone from DiGi will be launched within the first half of 2010 and rates and packages will be revealed after the launch date has been announced. With DiGi joining the iPhone race now, it will definitely spice up the competition and will eventually brings down the cost of owning an iPhone… I hope.
