10 must-haves Wordpress Plugins

Wordpress logo

I have been using Wordpress for about 3 months and I am grateful to Matt Mullenweg for making blogging a pain-free experience. FYI, Matt is the founding developer of this popular open-source blogging software. :P

While Matt deserves all the credits, let’s not forget those who spend countless hours working on Wordpress plugins. Thanks guys!

Among the 1270 plugins out there, here are my top 10 must-haves Wordpress Plugins:

1. Akismet
Let’s face it… no one likes SPAM and Akismet did what everyone is hoping for - get rid of it. Akismet checks your comments against the Akismet web service to see if they look like spam or not. So far, Akismet caught 30 spam comments on my blog.

    Short update

I have been very busy lately.. learning how to create an AJAX application using PHP, Javascipt and CSS. AJAX (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) is a web development technique used for creating interactive web applications.

You probably have seen AJAX in action before but you might not realize it. Google uses AJAX in most of their web applications which include Gmail, Google Maps and Google Calendar.

Some says it is just a hype but if it is only a hype, then why top international web brands like Yahoo, Microsoft, Google and Amazon use AJAX to enhance user experience of their respective websites? :D

I am sorry if this post is too technical for you. :P Just a short update for you guys.

    Alexa Logo

This will be the final update on the Alexa experiment I started about a month ago. It is a successful one and my ranking rose to 595800 from a low 1,784,808. I am expecting my ranking to go up to around 200k + by end of next week since I am getting a consistent 1 wk average of 170k - 220k.

    Mybloglog logo

Out of curiosity, I conducted a short cross browser test on my blog to see if the widgets and CSS are working correctly.

While my website looks perfectly the same in all browsers, I notice a slight difference in my MyBlogLog widget. The most the crucial of the widget which says “YOU! Join my community” is MISSING in Firefox. Check out the images below:-

Is it just me or it happens to you as well? I hope Yahoo will look into this matter as soon as possible.
