Having two workstations in my office in two separate locations is not funny when you need to access data or retrieve information from one of the workstations.

I am grateful when I was introduced to an online tool – LogMeIn.com to remote access any PCs or MACs from anywhere with internet connection. Cool huh? And the best of all, it has a free version with basic features. The “Pro” version (with a lot of more features) is priced at $69.95 per PC per year.

I am eye-ing LogMeIn Ignition for iPhone which will cost me US $29.99. Wait till I upgrade my iPhone to 3Gs

Here are some screenshots:

OK, back to LogMeIn Free/Pro version. If you are interested, follow these simple steps:-

Click here to register an account. Select “LogMeIn Access, Management and Networking“.

LogMeIn will send an account activation email to you. ACTIVATE your account!

Click “Add this Computer” and then download LogMeIn software and install on the PC(s) you want to access remotely.

After installation, click “My Computers” on the right Menu of your admin panel to view the list of computers you added into your account.

I use Firefox to access my LogMeIn account (LogMeIn plugin is required) or you may use Internet Explorer. It is up to you!

The rest is quite straightforward. Let me know if you need any assistance.

They will probably allow you to use their LogMeIn Pro2 for 30 days and at the end of the trial period, if you are not interested in subscribing to LogMeIn Pro2, they will downgrade your version to FREE version.

Opera says that their Opera Mini for iPhone and iPod Touch is “100% compliant” with App Store requirements as well as Apple strict policies. Though it is rumored that the Opera Mini runs ’6 times faster’ than Safari on iPhone, there are doubts that it will get approval from App Store.

Opera Mini will be very useful and should provide a much better browsing experience to iPhone’s users (yea.. i am still stuck with my 2G iPhone) that are on GPRS network. I hope it will be available on App Store soon in the near future… knowing that Opera has yet to decide on when they will submit their app to the App Store.

I was trying to convert a friend of mine to be an iPhone user since iPhone is now officially (and legally) available in Malaysia. He was impressed with the sleek iPhone design and some of the apps but then he popped a question which I could not answer him on the spot …

Can iPhone has the ability to run applications in the background like Windows Mobile? :O

As far as I know, once I hit the “Home” button, it kills the current app completely. No chance you can resume the state you are at when you return to the same app.

So, I did a quick search on Google and YES!, there is an application that allows iPhone to run apps in the background. It is called Backgrounder but it is only available for jailbroken iPhones though Cydia.

You can read more about this app here
